A LITTLE HISTORY
This race is in honor of Vicki Paulsen, daughter of Robin and Bobbi. You can read her story in Robin’s book titled “I have to tell you about Vicki”.
If you do read it, you’ll learn that one of the greatest days of her life was the day she competed in the Special Olympics Track and Field competition at Santa Barbara City College. She won blue ribbons for her victories in the softball throw and the 400m relay. She also placed in the 100m race.
She died in 1996 after a life that was filled with seizures and challenges but also with reportedly great hugs and unmatched kindness.
When my family was introduced to this race it was being tirelessly directed for several years by Liz Werhane and Leah Etling. Our goal is to carry on the tradition they made for us!
We sure hope you’ll join us on June 9th to honor Vicki by raising some money for Special Olympics.
