Claire Krock

Claire_KrockOK, so you hear about a local soccer mom with a Volvo SUV who teaches elementary school….but then you learn she answers with a smile to her nickname “Sporty Spice”, loves anything chocolate, survived life with six (yep, six) brothers (its complicated….read the Profile), and is among the more hard core and focused members of the SB Running & Racing crew. It is no surprise that Claire finishes whatever she starts…be it a marathon (while dealing with food poisoning) or her newest vegetarian recipe. It is also a certainty that Claire and her pals from SBR&R will make their presence known at the Austin Marathon in February, 2013….look out Austin, Sporty Spice is coming to town!

My trademark expression is: “Go Big or Go Home”
If money were not a consideration, I would love to: Travel the world with my family
In the next 5 years, I hope to: Have fun, continue growing up, and keep running
In the next 10 years, I hope to: be surrounded by good friends, a loving family, and an amazing running group
Personal accomplishments: I’m just working on my optimistic attitude 🙂
Personal fact that will surprise my friends: I have a total of 6 brothers (2 step brothers; 4 half brothers), and I only met some of them 10 years ago. Think about that!
Favorite Running Shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus (I think I have bought 10 pairs in a row) but I am currently running in Nike Nimbus
Favorite Distance and PR (post collegiate): don’t know if I can say the marathon is my favorite distance, but it is definitely the one I have run the most. 3:32 is my PR. Working to break that 3:30 barrier!
Best Race and Why: SBIM 2010- It was a fabulous experience to run in my home town, on my own turf, sleep in my own bed the night before the race, and have a great experience. I saw Elda at mile 25, grunted at her, she handed me a Gu that I powered down, and then closed my eyes and finished that race. Where else do you get that kind of support?
Worst Race and Why: SBIM 2010- It was a fabulous experience to run in my home town, on my own turf, sleep in my own bed the night before the race, and have a great experience. I saw Elda at mile 25, grunted at her, she handed me a Gu that I powered down, and then closed my eyes and finished that race. Where else do you get that kind of support?
Average Weekly Mileage (last 12 months): 40-45 miles a week. I haven’t been training for any specific event, so weekly mileage hasn’t been a priority. That’s about to change as we (Brooke, Terra, Jaime Allison, and I) get ready to run the Austin Marathon in February 2013.
Favorite Local Race: Chuck’s and SBIM
Most Memorable Running Experience: Every run is memorable in one way or another
Favorite Place to Run: More Mesa, Hope Ranch, or Jesusita Trail
Glory Days PR: I didn’t run in High school or college……so these are my glory days!
Realistic Running Goals for this Year: BREAK 3:30!
Wildly Optimistic Running Goals for this Year: Break 3:20?
Lifetime Running Goals: To be able to run like Gary when I am the same age he is now:)
Local Running Heroes & Why: Our Group of course! I respect the fasties, but even more inspiring are the people who get out there and are on the course for 3, 4, or 5 hours grinding it out. I respect all of my Hope Ranch Crew who wake up sooo early every Thursday morning for an inspiring and hilly run through Hope Ranch.
Personal Training Tips: Run happy and listen to your body
Why I Run: because it fills my cup and makes me a better mom, wife and friend. I love that feeling of the endorphin rush when I feel on top of the world
I love runners who: are positive and love running as much as I do
I don’t care for runners who: are grumpy
Suggestions for local races: Suggestions for SBAA: keep up the good work!
Favorite Quote: Go big, or go home
