Santa Barbara Tough Enough is a 65-mile/105 km relay along the ridge of the Sierra Madre. It was started by Bob Heubel in 1986; taken over by Patsy Dorsey in the early 90’s; languished for ten years; and was restarted by Hart Kornell in 2005 (or so), based on a chance encounter with a man in a cafe wearing an old Tough Enough teeshirt.

It is widely regarded as the finest relay race in human history.
